abstract = "High atmospheric concentrations of global warming gases produced
by anthropogenic activities have generated great demand for
research about stocks and fluxes of carbon. The study aimed to
assess the relationship between the spectral indices (NDVI, PRI e
CO2flux) in Botucatu - SP, to find relations of stock and carbon
sequestration, in a time series of 30 years. For research, three
scenes from different dates were selected; all of these images is
of the Landsat-5 TM sensor from orbit / point 220/076. The scenes
were chosen in three different years, at the same season. The
first chosen scene was the image of the day 12/09/1991, the second
chosen scene was of the day 25/10/2001, and the last image chosen
was of the day 19/09/2011. The maps of NDVI, PRI and CO2flux
showed us a huge variation, when compared temporally. The scene of
2001 possess better performance in carbon sequestration, since it
possessed higher values of NDVI, which it is directly proportional
to the carbon sequestration. The higher is the value of CO2flux
greater amount of the carbon stored, allowing better development
conditions for vegetation. A significant increase was observed in
the values of CO2 flux for Barra Bonita dam along the temporal
analysis, in the same manner as was observed on the image of NDVI.
The indices used allowed us to observe the progress of degradation
in Barra Bonita dam, representing the behavior of the environment
                         over the years.",
